Erectile Dysfunction - We worry too much

The trick to beating ED is to educate yourself and find the remedy that works for you. Working on your health and not just sexual health will solve the problem. The right diet and exercise can rid you of erectile dysfunction. This is the safest option but requires you to be patient and to give it a little time to work. You need to balance macro and micro nutrients. For healthy sexual function out body needs a balanced amount of protein, fat and carbohydrates as well as vitamins, electrolytes and other micro nutrients. Most men when faced with ED develop the wrong mental attitude which makes matters worse and it becomes a long term problem. When this happens you get stuck with performance anxiety which worsens an already bad situation. Had you not obsessed about it so much, ED would have probably cured itself. You need to consider however, that if your issue is related to an underlying disease process you need to take care of the disease. This will in most cases rid you of ED.  There are some effective exercises in Qigong and Yoga that really help. This blog has a lot of information on this so check other posts. Look for Kapal bhati and sexual Qigong. Acupressure and Acupuncture can help so give it a try.

If you are reading this you are probably concerned about your erections. ED can have psychological origins or it can be a physiological condition arising out of an underlying disease. It can sometimes be precursor to a disease that has not taken root and may be undetectable in a clinical exam or lab tests. I have done a lot of research online and offline on ED. Good quality information is a little hard to find online. One has to sift through too much to find sensible facts. The net may not be a good place for someone looking for a real solution. I recently discovered an eBook titled “ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION”. This eBook is an excellent resource of facts and critical information on ED. I have provided a link here. At under $10* it is a real steal.

Diet and exercise play an important role in proper sexual function. For proper guidance on appropriate diet for improving sexual function "THE MAN DIET" seems like a safe and low cost option. I would try "THE MAN DIET" any day as against ingesting dangerous chemicals like Viagra with life threatening side effects. What I like about this product is that it is a guide for implementing a well researched diet plan for improving sexual health and performance. The author of the plan is talking a lot of sense and claims to have used the prescriptions on himself and many clients. He is recommending a safe option of a balanced diet plan to boost the enzymes and amino-acids needed for good sexual health and to boost T levels. It looks like a safe option. I have not used the product but if I had to I would give it a try before popping a pill or injecting synthetic testosterone in my body. It is a cost effective option at a discounted price of under $20* for the program. From what I know about "THE MAN DIET" it may be used for curing ED or for boosting sexual performance in healthy males. More product details are HERE>>>>

Foods for Reproductive Health

I have been experimenting with food for over 15 years. This is the essence of all the experiments I have done on myself during this period. I hope you gain from them as much as I have. This article is in no way a substitute for proper medical advice. Please consult your health care professional for a proper diagnosis and medical advice. Eat almonds; soak 20 almonds in water at night. Remove the skins and eat them with raisins and a glass of milk every morning after exercise. It is even better if you grind the almonds with a bit of sugar, cardamom and milk and have it as a shake with raisins. Add 5 Dates and 2 Walnuts to your daily diet. Have them in the morning for breakfast. Dates taste even better when boiled in milk. Give up all types of packaged and junk food. Try and take more fruits and vegetables. Men can use Shilajeet, available in the form of capsules, tablets and liquid. Do consult a health care professional for proper dosage for you. I take one 390 milligram capsule daily manufactured by Patanjali. Include a daily glass of fresh juice made from carrots, beet, tomatoes and Indian gooseberries. For one glass you will need 200 grams of carrots, 250 grams of beet, 400 grams of tomatoes and one Indian gooseberry. Here are more details of the health benefits of these foods and Shilajit.

Almonds are a calorie rich food with high fat content but no cholesterol. In fact they help lower cholesterol levels. They are rich in minerals, vitamins and protein. Almonds contain vitamin E which is associated with improving cardiovascular health. They are rich in Magnesium. Magnesium makes the arteries less restrictive allowing for better blood flow. Almonds protect the heart against high blood pressure. Nutrients in almonds also assist in better delivery of oxygen throughout the body. Almonds are a source of good quality fat which is essential for better sexual health. Manganese and Copper present in almonds assist in energy production in the body.

Dates are rich in sugar and are digested quickly therefore are a good source of energy. They are a good protection against intestinal disturbances. Dates are good as a bowl regulator and protect against constipation. They aid libido and protect against functional disorders of the reproductive system. Dates are rich in iron and protect against anemia. They are a great general health tonic.

Walnuts contain nutrients that help the body to increase sperm production. They also increase HDL or the good cholesterol which protects the heart. Walnuts help increase semen volume and are rich in omega-3 fatty acids which improve blood flow to the penis. They are anti ageing and the best source of antioxidants compared to all other nuts.

Shilajeet or Shilajit is anti-ageing. It has been used in India for thousands of years for male sexual health and strength.  It helps cell regeneration and health of old cells. It arrests tissue degeneration. It assists energy synthesis by helping metabolize proteins and vitamins. Shilajeet strengthens the immune system and promotes blood flow through the sexual system. It increases male sexual potency. It makes the reproductive system stronger and increases libido. It strengthens bones and arrests degeneration.

Milk is rich in protein and is a good source of vitamin B12 especially for vegans who don’t get sufficient supply from their diet. If you are vegan you should consider having more than one glass of milk a day. It is good for bone health and regeneration. It keeps the skin and nails healthy. Milk increases energy levels and assists the reproductive function. It improves digestion and increases red blood cells. It gives an instant boost to libido and should be consumed at night.

Carrots are a complete food. Beta-carotene found in carrots is excellent for the eyes. Carrots slow the ageing process. They are a rich source of vitamin A and also contain vitamins B1, B2, B6, C, K, biotin, potassium and thiamine. They strengthen the male sexual system and potency and are good for heart health and hypertension. Carrot juice provides energy and has antiseptic properties.

Beet Root is a super vegetable and has a big effect on blood pressure and cardiovascular health. It is anti inflammatory and purifies blood. It is best to consume beet in juice form for higher concentration of nutrients. Beets contain natural nitrates and antioxidants among other nutrients. Nitric oxide improves blood flow through the body, especially to the sexual organs. This increased blood flow assists better sexual performance. Ancient Romans considered beetroots to be an aphrodisiac. Beet juice has an energizing effect and enhances athletic ability. It improves liver health and helps the body fight the effect of pollutants from food, water and air. Beet juice helps reduce triglycerides and bad cholesterol (LDL). Beets are high in iron and folic acid and can help prevent anemia.

Tomatoes are commonly referred to as a vegetable but really are a fruit. They contain lycopene which is a powerful antioxidant. Antioxidants protect the cell membrane which in turn affects overall health. Some research suggests that lycopene may help in treatment of infertility and increase sperm count in men. They are a delicious fruit rich in vitamin C and vitamin A. They are anti inflammatory and help contain free radical damage. Free radicals cause all types health damage and disease. Tomatoes are a good source of energy but low in calories. They contain iron and B vitamins and are good for bones.

Indian gooseberries (Amla) are very rich in vitamin C which helps strengthen the immune system. One 50 gram Amla contains more than 100 milligrams of Vitamin C. Various nutrients in Amla have anti ageing properties. It balances body heat assisting in better appetite and improved digestion thereby increasing energy levels. It assists fat metabolism thereby reducing cholesterol. Amla is used as a base and added to a large number of Ayurvedic preparation which are used in diseases ranging from common colds to cancer. It is also found in ayurvedic tonics like chawanprash. Gooseberries when juiced with beetroot balance the fruity taste of beetroot. Gooseberry juice can cause constipation if used in excess.

6 Pranayams for Reproductive Health

For thousands of years Yoga and Pranayam has been practiced in India for mental, spiritual and physical health. Many experts have advocated these 6 Pranayams for Sexual and Reproductive health for men and women. The Pranayams are:

1. Bhastrika for 3 to 5 minutes
2. Kapalbhati  for 20 minutes
3. Bahya pranayam 3 times
4. Anulom Vilom for 20 minutes
5. Bharmri 7 times
6. Udgeet 7 times

You need to know this hand position or mudra to make the practice of pranayam even more fruitful. It is called Gyan Mudra or Dhyan Mudra. To form Gyan Mudra, sit cross legged with the heel of the left foot touching the body at the center. Place the right foot over the left with the heel touching the body and the fingers of the right foot between the thigh and the calf of the left leg. Keep the spine straight. Make a circle with the index finger and the thumb of the hands. Place the hands on the knees with the palms facing up. This is Gyan Mudra. This mudra helps in insomnia, memory management, helps you focus better and energizes you. The Gyan Mudra is good for mental health and keeps you calm.

For improving reproductive health you need to practice these pranayams in the sequence and time duration given here. Practice on an empty stomach after freshening up in the morning. These exercises together will help improve sperm count and prostate health in men. They also improve the squeezing action for better reach of sperm and chances of conception. For women it will help the ovaries function optimally and regularize the menstrual cycle. Practice of paranyam by women during and after pregnancy affects the health of the child positively. The practice of pranayam will bless you with a beautiful and healthy child. Women should practice all pranayams except Kapalbhati and Bahya pranayam during pregnancy and menstruation.

Bhastrika Pranayam
Start the session with Bhastrika and practice it with full faith, gratitude and devotion. While practicing Bhastrika be thankful to god for what you have and ask him for help with whatever you want to receive. Imagine that your body is getting energized and strong and believe you will get everything you desire. This is how you practice Bhastrika. Sit in Gyan Mudra preferably on the floor connecting with the earth. Breathe in as deep as you can and exhale and keep repeating. Feel the body being energized and blessed by the force above. Keep medium pace and focus on your breath. This will balance and strengthen all the bodily functions. It will make you a (wo)man full of vigor and power. After doing Bhastrika for at least 3 minutes move on to Kapalbhati pranayam.

Kapalbhati Pranayam
Keep sitting in Gyan Mudra. Breathe in and quickly force the air out by working your abdomen muscles. The squeeze of the abdomen is similar to the squeeze during sneezing or coughing. Breathe in normally through the nose and squeeze the abdomen muscles to throw the air out through the nose in a quick burst. Concentrate on pushing the air out and breathe in normally. During Kapalbhati the breathing is much faster than normal breathing. You need to target doing 60 repetitions in one minute with medium strength. Going too slow will not give you the benefit of the exercise and going too fast may injure you. Women should not practice kapalbhati during menstruation and stop completely during pregnancy. Continue to practice Bhastrika, Anulom Vilom, Bhramri and Udgeet. Kapalbhati increases the oxygen intake which helps cure many ailments. It also balances thyroid function. Higher Oxygen levels and improved thyroid function increase energy levels and help correct many deviations in reproductive function. Initially you may get tired quickly. So start with three to five minutes and don’t push yourself. Build up slowly and target doing 20 minutes of Kapalbhati every day. Once you have built up to 20 minutes of daily practice, continue for as long as you do not conceive as a couple. It should help you conceive in 3 to 4 months but the time will depend on the severity of the problem and your dedication, commitment and devotion. This is a very powerful pranayam which brings the cure of many problems within reach and completely in your control. Kapalbhati alone can increase sperm count and help the female reproductive system work optimally. I have heard of instances where blocked Fallopian tubes have been set right with Kapalbhati. Always practice it with utmost devotion and a prayer in your heart. While doing anything in life it is your faith that really helps produce results. Never practice Kapalbhati if you are hypertensive, have another heart condition or have an issue with the abdomen like hernia.

Bahya Pranayam
Follow Bahya after Kapalbhati. Sit in Gyan Mudra and breathe out completely. Pull your abdomen muscles so as to make the front of the abdomen touch the spine, pull as far in as possible. Now hold the breath as long as you can and then breathe out. Repeat this 3 to 5 times. The mooladhar is energized during Kapalbhati. Bahya pranayam helps distribute this energy throughout the body for maximum benefit. Try to pull up the lower abdomen while holding the breath out. This is done because Kapalbhati has maximum effect in energizing the mooladhar and pulling the mooladhar helps redirect this energy throughout the body. Women should not do this during pregnancy and menstruation.

Anulom Vilom
This is the pranayam that should be done after Bahya pranayam. Women should continue Anulom Vilom once they have conceived; Kapalbhati and Bahya should be stopped. Sit in lotus position with the left hand in Gyan mudra. Close the right nostril with the thumb of the right hand and breathe in through the left nostril. Now close the left nostril with the middle two fingers and exhale through the right nostril. Keep the left nostril closed with the fingers and breathe in through the right nostril. Now close the right nostril with the thumb and breathe out through the left nostril. This completes one round of Anulom Vilom. This pranayam has a soothing effect on the nervous system and balances the energy throughout the body. It should be practiced for at least 20 minutes daily. Kapalbhati and Anulom Vilom are the most important and should be practiced with full devotion and gratitude. They may be practiced for up to 30 minutes. Our left nostril represents the moon and has a cooling effect during respiration. The right nostril represents the sun and has an energizing effect. Anulom Vilom balances the two energies in the body. It is also helpful in treating headaches and problems of the vision. Some people have difficulty going 20 minutes just with one hand, change hands if needed. Breathe nice and deep and breathe out completely contracting the chest and abdomen.

Close your eyes with the fingers and close your ears with the thumbs. Breathe in and exhale through the nose saying “OM”. Keep your lips together, exhaling only through the nose. This will create a buzzing sound. Repeat it 5 to 7 times. Think of God, Allah, Bhagwan whichever force you believe in and do it with full devotion. Focus on your breath as you inhale and exhale. Try and exhale at a uniform pace, slowly and stretch as long as possible. This will relax you. It can also be done at night if you are having trouble sleeping.

Udgeet pranayam
Udgeet or Udgeeth is similar to Bhramri but you exhale through the mouth chanting “OM”. Close your eyes and sit in Gyan Mudra. Breathe in and exhale through the mouth saying the word “OM”. It is important to focus on your breath and keep a slow stretched pace. Breathe out completely and repeat 5 to 7 times.

Some yogis recommend that once you have completed the 6 pranayams, rub your hands together to warm them and then place the palms on your eyes once.

This set of pranayams should take you about an hour to complete and if done with regularity and dedication will bless you with a beautiful and healthy baby. They will also make you better and healthier parents.

Million Dollar Diet for SEX

Foods required for better sexual performance need to give you energy, should be easy to digest, have lots of fat, protein and carbohydrates. In addition they should contain vital vitamins and minerals for proper functioning of the sexual system, testosterone production and to keep you in a good mood. They should give you an optimum supply of magnesium, calcium, selenium, Vitamins A, C, D, E, B6 and B12. In short you need strength, flexibility and mental calm to fully enjoy your sex life and make a partner happy. I am listing many food options in each category for you to choose from. As a thumb rule however, always add as many colors to your diet as possible. The theory is that every nutrient has a unique color. More colors mean different nutrients. This is something no nutritional expert will ever tell you. It makes life simple and you become sexually healthy. In the long term this is the ultimate diet plan for natural male enhancement and sexual prowess.

Testosterone Boosters
Swallow four cloves of crushed garlic with water, have 300mg to 600mg of Shilajeet every day and get lots of sunshine. Sunlight is the best source of vitamin D. You need to expose your skin to sunlight for the body to synthesize vitamin D. This is an important component needed for the body to synthesize adequate amounts of testosterone. 15 minutes 3 times a week is sufficient exposure to sunlight. This cocktail of garlic, Shilajeet and vitamin D will boost the production of testosterone.

Follow this link for a night time routine you can follow to boost your Testosterone level. Click Here>>>>>

Exercise
Put in 15 minutes of vigorous cardio every day or at least 4 times a week. One exercise that I have benefitted from and always recommend is Kapalbhati. You may do 15 minutes of Kapalbhati instead. This exercise should not be done in certain conditions. Do read more HERE before you start this and consult a trained yoga instructor. Do not practice it if you have hypertension or other heart problem or if you have abdominal issues.

Energy
Strike a balance with Proteins, Carbohydrates and Fat. Choose foods that are easy to digest and those that aid digestion. Drink 40ml fresh lime juice every day, as a lemon aid with or without sugar. Drink 2 glasses of fresh vegetable or fruit juice. Have half a glass of radish juice twice a week. Also have 1 glass carrots, tomatoes, amla and beet root juice twice a week. If you can, add juice of one bitter gourd to this mix.

Mood enhancing foods
Eat foods like Oranges, cashew nuts, beet root, asparagus, chocolate, garlic and avocado. Most of these are used for other reasons also and are listed in one or more categories above or below.

Selenium
Brazil Nuts are one of the richest sources of Selenium in plant based foods. Make them part of your diet plan. Alternately you can add one of these foods to your plan; Oysters, Clams, Tuna fish, Whole-wheat bread, Turkey (leg meat) or Sunflower seeds.

Magnesium
Leafy Green Vegetables are one of the richest sources of Magnesium and contain many invaluable nutrients. They are also a rich source of fiber to help keep the digestion in shape. Eat them regularly. Make one or more of these part of your sex diet plan; baby spinach, kale, collard greens or Swiss chard. Other sources of Magnesium to add variety to your plan are; yogurt, almonds, brazil nuts, pine nuts, flaxseed, pecans, sunflower seeds, soybeans, black beans, chick peas, bananas, blackberries, grapefruit, strawberries, figs

Calcium
Dairy products are the best source of high quality calcium. Add lots of milk, cheese, yogurt and ice cream to your plan. Other sources to choose from are; sesame seeds, kale, almonds, broccoli, spinach, raw turnip greens and watercress.

It is good to avoid synthetic vitamins in the form of supplements and use natural sources. For your supply of essential vitamins choose one or more foods from each category.

Vitamins A: carrots, tomatoes, iceberg lettuce, sweet potatoes, cod liver oil, red pepper, turkey liver, paprika, mangoes, butternut squash, dried basil, cantaloupe and peas.

Vitamins E: almonds, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, Swiss chard, mustard greens, kale, hazel nuts, pine nuts, parsley, papaya, olives, wheat and plant seed oils.

Vitamins C: All citrus fruits; lime, lemon, oranges, grapes, kiwi and berries. Also peppers, pineapple and tomatoes.

Vitamins B6: sunflower seeds, pistachio nuts, tuna, prunes, bananas, spinach, sage, wheat germ, peanut butter and molasses.

Vitamins B12 (Cobalamin): all dairy products, milk, butter milk, yogurt, ice cream and cheese other foods rich in B12 clams, beef liver, mackerel, crab and eggs.

I have included a lot of detail here but you are still on your own to understand and construct a diet plan for yourself. For more help on designing a "Diet for Better Sex" CLICK HERE >>>>

PMS Relief with Food and Exercise

Premenstrual syndrome or PMS is experienced by over 70% of women and is associated with a large number of symptoms which are different for every woman. Common symptoms are back pain, bloating, moodiness, depression, anxiety, irritability, nausea, breast swelling and abdominal cramps. In cases of estrogen dominance women suffer from abdominal weight gain, allergies, decreased libido, early onset of menstruation, fatigue, fibrocystic breasts, hair loss and even memory loss.  Some women have it so bad; it becomes difficult to do daily activities. There are many theories why women get back pain. Some suggest improper diet or hormonal changes. Women are often treated with painkillers which do not really in the long term and are very harmful in the short run. A reason that Ayurveda experts know better and is never touched upon is belly button (navel) displacement or the “slipping” of the “dharan”. Navel displacement is very common among women. It can be checked by measuring the distance from the belly button to the big toes of the foot. If the distance is unequal the navel has shifted. A more reliable way is to press at the center of the belly button with the tips of all fingers and thumb, while lying down and feel the pulse. If the pulse is not at the center then the navel has shifted. This can cause constipation, diarrhea, bloating and palpitations, depending on the shift to the left, right up or down. To center the navel, lie down on your back and try to touch the big toe of the foot to your nose, one at a time and then both together. Repeat till the pulse can be felt in the center. If you are not flexible enough raise both feet 6 to 12 inches from the ground and hold as long as possible. Repeat till the navel is centered.

To combat bloating a common issue, drink this herb tea. Add one quarter spoon of tea leaves to 1 cup water for color. Add powder of one cardamom and 2 cloves. Add half to one inch piece of crushed fresh ginger. Bring to a boil. Strain and drink a cup of this 2 to 3 times a day.

There is a lot of advice out there on how to manage PMS. We are looking here at how to manage PMS with food. I will not go into why each of these foods work, because if they work for you that is what matters. These foods fall in one or more of the following categories. High fiber foods will help you with puffiness, gas and discomfort. High water content and fiber will push things along and rid you of bloating. Irritation, anger and anxiousness can be alleviated with complex carbohydrates. Carbohydrates act as anti depressants and keep you in a good mood. They also eliminate anxiety and irritation. Eat only healthy carbs. Omega-3 rich foods also have antidepressant properties. Foods like bananas and pineapple contain melatonin which help you sleep better. Melatonin is a hormone which helps maintain the natural rhythm of the body.  To boost energy, foods rich in protein and B-12 need to be consumed. Green leafy veggies are good for many reasons. Food rich in magnesium helps fight headaches. Have a healthy breakfast, high in protein and fat to stay ahead of PMS cravings. Stay away from processed high sodium food and avoid alcohol.

Try different combinations from this list of 27 foods and stick with what works for you. Brussels sprouts, Cabbage, Celery, Squash, Broccoli, Oranges and Artichokes are high fiber with lots of water content. Quinoa, Whole grain bread, Oatmeal, Wheat Berry and Popcorn are good quality complex carbohydrates. For lots of Omegs-3 fatty acids have Flaxseeds, Fortified eggs, Grilled Salmon, other fish like Mackerel and Chia Seeds. Bananas, Pineapple and Oranges boost melatonin and help you sleep better. Eat Eggs, Turkey and Chicken for more energy. Bitter gourd, Kale and Spinach help fight hormonal acne. For headaches try a recipe with lots of Pumpkin seeds or Sesame seeds.

15 foods for estrogen metabolism
To metabolize and breakdown estrogen optimally the liver requires magnesium, vitamins C, E, B6 and B12. It is best to optimize these thru a balanced diet plan than using supplements. Foods rich in magnesium are Pumpkin seeds and Sesame Seeds. All citrus fruits like oranges, lemons, lime and kiwi are rich in vitamin C. You can get vitamin E from mustard greens and whole grain wheat bread. Pistachio nuts, bananas, avocados, tuna fish, turkey and chicken are a rich source of vitamin B6. You can get vitamin B12 from mackerel, clams, liver (beef), and many cereals are fortified with a synthetic form of B12.

Add a bit of exercise or yoga to your routine cut down on alcohol and caffeine and learn to manage stress and make the recommended diet changes and you will never ever suffer PMS again. Hormonal changes near your menstrual cycle and poor eating habits can also cause yeast infections so adopting a healthy lifestyle and eating right is a good idea in many ways.

In her book, Quit PMS nutritional therapist Lauren Geertsen presents an accessible explanation of the underlying hormonal imbalances that lead to PMS. Then, she explains the necessary diet, supplements and lifestyle changes to address the root causes of PMS. You’ll also get 25 delicious recipes to start your hormone-balancing journey. By following the Quit PMS protocol, you’ll end your menstrual misery naturally.
